Roadmap
Ember Runes is under active development. This page covers what's coming — for what's already live, see The World, Skills, Combat and Quests.
Coming next
- Magic, built out: 69 spells are in: the twenty elemental spells, the curses and binds, the gildings, Beckon, Hand Forge, the bones spells, teleports to every town, the spells cast through their own staff with Charge, the orb spells and battlestaves, and Send-to (see Spells). Gems, gem jewellery, the seven enchanting spells and enchanted gem-tipped arrows are in too. Next: the other spellbooks.
- Runesmithing is in: glimstone from the pit Orrin Vell sends you to, from the magic shops at 5 coins a stone, or from creatures, carved at fourteen altars across the world (see Runesmithing). Glimstone stacks 99 to a slot. The quest that opens the pit (The Pull of the Charm) and circlets are in too. Still to come: pouches that carry more stone.
- Sailing: boats of your own and a skill for sailing them, being planned now.
- A polish pass on the game's visuals — trees, terrain and more — building on the buildings and characters already in place.
- Continued work on the account login flow.
- A creator for monsters and other creatures, to match the one players and villagers already use.
Further out
- Caldmoor, a whole new region with several more towns — Cairnwall, Fallowmede, Greyhythe and Norhaven — in their own building style. A preview of the look is up at emberrunes.com/#caldmoor.
- Serai, a trading city across the eastern sea, reached by boat.
- More skills: thieving, herblore, task-based slaying, farming and hunting.
- Minigames and world events.
- A player-versus-player area is being considered, but nothing is decided.
Already in the game
Seventeen skills, melee/ranged/magic combat with prayer, four quests, a full social system, and a day/night cycle with weather, across a growing world: Emberville, Stonecote, Thornbury, Wickstead, Brinehaven, Kilnhold, Sablewood Isle, Deepdelve, the Harrow, Sandreach and the Sallowfen with Mourn, with eight dungeons between them. See the other wiki pages for the details.
